The wind sensing vane for this yacht’s Autohelm autopilot had degraded and become brittle in the sun. With only a few scraps of the broken part available, we were able to design and print a replacement part in CF reinforced nylon. CAD analysis was used to be sure the centre of gravity of the vane coincided with the shaft axis to ensure good light wind performance.
