Bacardi has been participating in ocean races up and down the East coast of Australia for several decades. Her winches were originally designed for large diameter ropes. The advent of high modulus Spectra and Dynema ropes has reduced their diameter to point where the self tailers did nor properly work. We have modelled and printed new winch tops in carbon reinforced nylon for two mainsheet winches and 4 halyard winches. We took the opportunity to double the number of teeth on the upper jaw to further enhance grip. A new line stripper was also designed to match the gemoetry of the new winch top.
